Tulle, Lipstick & Heels

Tis the season of Christmas parties! I absolutely love attending and hosting Christmas parties. My husband and I attended the Fort St John City Christmas Party this weekend and had a great time! There was a yummy buffet dinner, silent auction, 50/50 draw, raffle draws, photo booth & a live band. We had a fun group along with us from the firehall and we sure had a good night!

I instantly knew in my mind what I was going to wear to this Christmas party…

tulle, lipstick & heels

Who doesn't love a photo booth?! So fun...

I am obsessed with tulle skirts! It instantly gives a girly, sweet & fun look!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time attending Christmas parties & enjoying all the festive holiday activities!

Christmas Tree Tradition

My brother-in-law (Ian, Sean's youngest brother) came to FSJ to visit us this past week and it was so nice to have him! Ian lives in Calgary so it was quite a drive up for him, but we really appreciate it and were excited for him to stay with us! The first night he got into town Sean was working night shift so Ian and I opened a bottle of wine, sat on the couch and caught up. Ooh ya know 1 bottle turned into 3 bottles, but we had such a fun night with Christmas music playing and catching up on life!

Ian joined me for a class at the gym I go to on Wednesdays called Butts & Guts. It's one of my favorite classes. It was nice to have a workout partner that day!

Sean and I have started a little family tradition for getting our Christmas tree. We drive up the Alaska Highway and cut down our tree! I always grew up with a fake Christmas tree, but Sean always grew up with a real one. I love getting a real one and I look forward to continuing the tradition with our kids one day. It's so fun stopping at Tim Hortons to get coffee, drive up the highway while listening to Christmas music and all bundled up! We drove to the same spot we went last year to cut down a tree and there was so much snow. It was really fun to have Ian with us this year!

Sean always says you have to shake the tree first so all of the snow falls off and you can really see what the tree looks like…

We walked around a bit saying "What about that one?!" and then we would say "Nooo. Not that one." After walking around a bit through the snow that was up to our knees we finally saw a tree that we all agreed on!

Sean starts sawing the tree and then we take turns at it…

Then we drag the tree back to the truck!
(this part always makes me feel like in the movies haha)

On our way back to Fort St John we stop at this little hole in the wall restaurant called "The Shepard's Inn" off the Alaska Highway and warm up with a yummy slice of homemade pie and hot coco!

This is what the holiday season is all about.. making new memories, family traditions & enjoy being together!

A Little Peek at My Week!

I couldn't wait any longer to put up the Christmas decor! I am not finished yet, but got a good start this week! We are going to go cut down our Christmas tree this week & I can't wait! I've been loving the Christmas commercials and Christmas music!

Sean and I went for dinner at a new Indian restaurant in FSJ called Spicy Fusion. Sean loves Indian food and now I really do too. We split the Chicken Curry & Tikka Masala. It was delicious! Oh and their garlic naan bread was so yummy! We will definitely be back.

It snowed so much this week! I got a great work out shovelling the driveway and the deck off… shovelled for 2 hours! Sean was pretty surprised when he got home from work. (good wife right here!)

I made squash spaghetti for lunch the other day. We really like squash spaghetti. It's pretty easy to make and fills you up as if it was actually pasta!

Got my hair done this week (was much needed)

Going out for dinner & drinks on Saturday night

Happy Birthday Kari!

Looking forward to celebrating American Thanksgiving this week with a yummy turkey dinner and putting up our Christmas tree! We are going to take our family Christmas card photo this week as well… bring on the holidays!!

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

A Little Peek at My Week!

I thought it would be fun to do blog posts at the end of the week with pictures from my phone from the past week!

It's been very cold here in Fort St John! Took this the other morning heading out the door to go to spin class.

The frost looks so pretty! (I am going to be taking down all the Fall decor soon and replace it with Christmas decor & I can't wait!)

My husband is an AMAZING cook. He made Surf & Turf for dinner and oh my was it yummy!

Had a little treat to warm up… Eggnog Latte  :)

Wearing the Ski Lodge Cardigan from AshleyKae Boutique! Love its cute winter print!

Miss Lilly during bath time...

Seriously? She's the sweetest pooch ever.

Snuggle time on the couch (she loves her Foxy)

I saw this on Instagram this week and died laughing...
Haha! Sorry Lilly!

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Welcome to FSJ!

Let me just start off by saying HOW excited I was counting down the days for my mom and sister to come visit Fort St John!! My sister had visited Fort St John back when I first moved up here (4 years ago), but my mom has not been able to make the trip yet. To have my mom & sister come see our house, see our day to day lives and just be with us in Canada was a really big deal to me! They flew out of MSP to Vancouver, had a 5 hour layover in Vancouver (there are never any good connection times so it's always a long layover!) and then they flew into FSJ.

They arrived the day before my mom's 50th birthday so it was awesome we would all be able to be together to celebrate her big 5-0! Thursday night we went to Roustabouts for dinner and then went to Mr. Mikes for drinks and dessert to celebrate!

Birthday girl :)

Friday night we went to watch the hubby's hockey game in Taylor. We stopped to grab Tim Horton's on our way of course! (They needed the full Canadian experience)

Saturday & Sunday I was booked with the boutique for "Ladies Day Out". It's a big event hosted every year in FSJ for a big shopping extravaganza and I was so happy to have mom & my sister here to help! I have always wanted to do a boutique show with them and now I finally could!

Cheers to a busy & fun weekend with the boutique! I was so thankful for their help and along with my husband's help!

For the rest of their visit it was so nice to be able to just drive around and show them the town, relax on the couch and just NOT be on a schedule. When Sean and I go home to visit them we are always so go go go.. we have so many places to go & friends to see.

Sean gave us a tour of the firehall...

We were lazy on the couch with Lilly…

Did a little sightseeing…

and did some hot tubbing in the freezing cold weather!

Of course time flew while they were here (doesn't every trip?!) but I am so happy & thankful they were able to come visit and see my Canadian life. I have lived in Canada just over 4 years now and sometimes its still hard to believe how far away I live from my mom & sister. Having them come to FSJ felt like my two lives were kinda coming together (if you know what I mean). Saying goodbye is always the hardest part and it doesn't seem to be getting easier. BUT I know I will be seeing them again soon! So many new Canadian memories have been made <3
